Legacy Link were approached last year by Diabetes UK, as they were in need of a legacy consultant to provide maternity leave cover for their legacy manager over a 12-month period.

Key to our service has been the flexibility, knowledge and experience that we have been able to offer to the charity, to complement their existing full-time Legacy Administration Officer. Our consultant, Becky Yates, has supported him not only through working quickly and efficiently on all aspects of casework, but also by sharing her knowledge and expertise in other areas. As an example, Becky has been involved in governance issues, including advising and assisting in the formulation of a delegated authority proposal to be put to Diabetes UK’s trustees.

I think what we can offer to whoever is going on maternity leave, as well as colleagues, managers and trustees, is peace of mind that the work will be in safe hands, carried out on time and to a high standard. Upon returning from maternity leave, legacy professionals can feel confident that there will not be a large backlog of work, nightmare situations, or issues that have stagnated while they have been away Becky yates. Additionally, the ability of our consultants to hit the ground running means Legacy Link provides good value for money, taking into account that lengthy induction or training is not required, nor the costs related to sickness or holiday leave.

Becky has been such a massive help here at Diabetes UK, and has very quickly become an invaluable member of the Legacy Team. Whether it’s helping to manage the day-to-day administration, or getting involved in our more complex cases, I can trust her to manage all aspects of the work we do with the utmost professionalism and dedication. Being able to tap into her considerable knowledge of all things legacy-related has been vital in bringing some difficult cases to a successful conclusion, and she is always willing to have a friendly chat over a coffee to help you out on any difficulties you might come across in your own casework. To put it simply – I’m not quite sure how we ever managed without her! Andrew Murgett, Legacy Administration Officer, Diabetes UK
